We spent 28 and 29 September at MeatEx 2022 in Toronto, meeting people working in meat, poultry and seafood processing. It gave us time to talk with processors and equipment suppliers about the practical work behind more efficient production.
The conversations covered international trade as well as what happens inside a facility. We met representatives from Landgeflügel and Ontario Beef, and heard from the Canadian Meat Council. It was useful to hear those perspectives alongside the equipment discussions on the show floor.
Water use is part of production
Drainage and wastewater treatment were among the technologies we looked at. Both sit close to the daily work of cleaning and production, where water use and operating conditions need to be understood together.
That is where our interest in the show connects with our work. We help teams see their water and energy use, then review the readings with the people who know the process. A sanitation cycle, for example, has a different purpose and pattern from a production run. The team needs that context when looking at consumption.
We came away with new contacts and a better view of the equipment being offered to processors. Thanks to everyone who took time to speak with us.
